Health Insurance for EU Citizens

If you are a citizen of an EU member state, you must bring your valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with you.

 The EHIC:

  • Provides access to necessary medical treatment in public healthcare facilities during your stay in Cyprus
  • Covers treatment under the same conditions and at the same cost as local residents (some services may involve co-payments)
  • Does not replace private travel insurance (e.g. for repatriation, private hospitals, or lost luggage).

We strongly recommend that, in addition to your EHIC, you also consider obtaining supplementary travel health

insurance for full coverage and peace of mind.
