JBOI 2025 - CALL FOR TASKS GUIDE

Invitation to contribute

We invite you to contribute to the JBOI 2025 by submitting your task proposals. Your innovative ideas can shape the challenge and inspire the next generation of computer scientists. Proposals are accepted until September 15th, 2025.

JBOI competition tasks: Overview

JBOI tasks are basically the same as tasks in International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), focusing on the design of efficient and correct algorithms. We prioritize simplicity in input/output formats and encourage the submission of novel task types unseen in recent contests. Adhere to IOI’s task preparation guidelines freely; for reference, visit the IOI website.

Task requirements

To maintain a competitive and fair environment, ensure that your tasks:

·         Remain unseen by potential JBOI 2025 contestants prior to the competition.

·         Have not been used in any similar competitions.

·         Are solvable within the constraints of an JBOI contest round.

·         Feature clear, unambiguous, and easily understandable descriptions.

·         Are culturally neutral and innovative.

Submission guidelines

·      Please compile your submission into a single zip file (up to 20 MB) containing:

·      Task Statement: Written in English, with any specified time/memory limits. Acceptable formats include LaTeX, PDF, or MS Word.

·      Solution Description: Include at least one sample solution in C/C++, along with a document detailing the solution’s workings, potential student approaches, and rationale for partial marks.

·      Grading and Test Data: Suggestions for grading, test data, and ideas for test data generation, alongside the task’s motivation and any relevant comments. Include input files, corresponding solution files, and a description for each test case.

·      Contact Information: Provide an email address, your affiliation, country, and role in JBOI or national Olympiads.

Intellectual Property

All submissions become the property of the JBOI community. By submitting, you grant the JBOI community all rights to the materials submitted.

Confidentiality and Task Selection

We respect authors’ involvement in other competitions but ask for discretion to maintain task confidentiality. Submitted tasks may be modified by the scientific committee.

All submitted tasks will be shortlisted by the host of JBOI 2025. Then, the shortlisted tasks are distributed to all heads of delegations. Hosts of delegations should provide suggestions and propose the final set of competition tasks to the host in order to make a final decision on the competition task set. If any countries need to translate the task scripts to their languages, the translated script must be submitted to the host up to three days before the competition day.

Authors of submitted tasks will be recognized during JBOI 2025 by listing their name, affiliation, and country (unless they specifically decline this).
